Rising young talent, Declan McKenna has released a powerful new video for his latest single ‘Bethlehem.’
Declan McKenna first sparked our interest with his self-released track ‘Brazil’, a catchy song about suspended FIFA President Sepp Blatter and the corruption swirling around that year’s football World Cup. McKenna performed at Glastonbury last year after winning their Emerging Talent Competition and has also performed multiple shows at this year’s SXSW Music Festival in the US. By the looks of it, the 17 year-old has an extremely busy schedule this summer, as he has been confirmed to play massive festivals such as Field Day, Latitude, Outside Lands and Reeperbahn Festival.
Similar to his first release ‘Brazil,’ ‘Bethlehem’ is another politically charged track, exploring the themes of religion and the way it is used to justify hate crimes, war and death. Although the track delves into such a controversial topic, McKenna pulls it off well, delivering the issue through striking pop bliss.
