Australian-born, New Yorker, Fascinator has just released his latest single Skin Within, following his appearances at Visions and King Street Crawl over the weekend and BIGSOUND showcases this week. Since releasing his debut album, Man, which was co-produced by Darren Seltmann from The Avalanches, Fascinator has been delivering his unique, psychedelic sounds to stages across the world. He support Australia’s own Tame Impala for two sold-out shows in Los Angeles, performed at Melbourne and Sydney’s Laneway Festival After Parties and was apart of the line-up for Full Moon Festival in NYC which featured the likes of Santigold and Kali Unchis.
His latest release, Skin Within, was written and recorded in Bushwick, Brooklyn following the fall out of a relationship. The track sees him joining up with Andrew Szekeres (Midnight Juggernauts) to assist with production and mixing and calling on Loren ‘Ted’ Humphrey (NAF, Cults, The Last Shadow Puppets) for the live drumming in the track. Skin Within is a soaring, psychedelic number, with swirling synths, pulsating acid-rock riffs and distant, wailing vocals. The overall mood of the track is quite angsty which you can definitely taste in the throbbing bass lines and crooning vocals. Overall, Skin Within is a trippy, psychedelic track that sees Fascinator experimenting with different textures and layers to create something beautiful from the ashes of his relationship.
