Genre-bending Fifi Rong’s ‘Violently Silently’

Artist/producer Fifi Rong has released her new EP ‘Violently Silently’. The Beijing-born uses the title, ‘Violently Silently’, to describe her genre-bending sound, which she explains is “subtly vulnerable and introverted, yet extremely emotionally powerful and brutal”.

Violently Silently is truly a unique piece of art that should be enjoyed in its entirety. The EP begin with an ‘Intro’ which sets the mood for the rest of the EP and was a great touch. Without ‘Intro’ then there wouldn’t be a proper beginning to the journey Fifi takes the listeners on. ‘Intro’, is a premix of the second, ‘Once’, which includes a sampled preview of both ‘Slow Poison’ and ‘Since When’ (tracks 3 and 4). The EP is then rounded off by ‘Outro’, which itself is a remix of the penultimate track.

Fifi Rong has a distinctive voice which makes the EP more engaging and you feel compelled to listen further. Violently Silently is a beautiful combination of raw and thought-provoking lyrics. Fifi uses the title, ‘Violently Silently’, to describe her genre-bending sound, which she explains is “subtly vulnerable and introverted, yet extremely emotionally powerful and brutal”.

Violently Silently really demonstrates Fifi Rong ever growing musical style and that with each release she’s maturing, and refining her idiosyncratic, yet beautifully intoxicating sound.
