Following its release on Monday, three-time GRAMMY Award-nominated and BRIT Award-winning multiplatinum singer-songwriter James Bay shares the music video for his latest track “Slide.”
The video opens with Bay standing under a spotlight in a garage-studio-like setting, singing into a microphone with the camera panning around him with the occasional cut to Bay’s backup singers. The video overall contains a simple layout so that the audience may focus on Bay’s beautiful lyrics and voice.
On “Slide” and its beautiful video Bay said: “Slide was the last song written for the new album and it felt like a natural closer. Although it’s tone is sad and heavy, it’s essentially about connection – a theme which, with hindsight, this album is really hinged on – and hope, despite the fact it doesn’t always work out. I guess it goes back to the nature of why I love songwriting – because a song promises the possibility of connection with other people – so we chase those flashes of creativity even when they sometimes lead us astray.”
“Slide” was is yet another hit song from Bay’s album Electric Light which was released on Friday, May 18, 2018.
Composed in East London’s Baltic Studios, Bay co-wrote and co-produced Electric Light with long-time friend and collaborator Jon Green and brought onboard Paul Epworth [Adele, Florence and The Machine] to add final production elements to the record. The single “Wild Love” has already reached nearly 19 million Spotify streams with “Pink Lemonade” reaching 6.1 million streams. Across the globe Bay has earned widespread critical acclaim from NME, Forbes, Harpers Bazaar, Time, GQ UK, Rolling Stone, People, Clash, Billboard, and performed on Saturday Night Live and Late Night with Seth Meyers.
