Ahead of the release of their debut album ‘Blackwater’, Melbourne due Kllo have given us the final glimpse into the new record with their latest single ‘Dissolve’.
While ‘Nylon’ and ‘Downfall’, the two previous singles released from their forthcoming record, offer hushed and hazy ethereal waves, ‘Dissolve’ combines R&B and UK Garage to create an emotional slice of electro-pop. Slick tropical two step beats, which is said to be influenced by Rihanna’s ‘Work’ and PartyNextDoor, find a home next to Kaul’s, serene vocal delivery.
The track was inspired by a bad Skype call overheard while the two were on tour in Cologne. “The lack of intimacy led to a heated conversation. As soon as we went back to our hotel, I picked up the microphone and sang one of the lines I overheard and it went from there. There’s a huge disconnection when speaking through a screen, things can easily be misinterpreted.” Kaul says.
‘Blackwater’ is set to be released October 20th and can be pre-ordered here
Kllo will also be doing a headlining tour in Australia in December and making appearances at Let Them Eat Cake and Laneway Festival early next year.
