Melbourne producer LANKS has just releases his latest single, Holla, whilst also announcing his upcoming EP, Viet Rose, is due to be released on October 14th. 2016 has been a big year for the multi-instrumentalist, who is currently on tour supporting Vera Blue for her east coast shows, whilst also preparing for his showcase on the Triple J Unearthed stage at Australia’s biggest music industry event, BIGSOUND and being named on the line up for this year’s The Plot festival in Sydney.
His latest single, Holla is a gorgeous slice of electronic goodness. It’s the perfect combination of melodic instrumentals, for floating away, with dark, choppy synths lines for getting down on the festival dance floor this summer. The track opens quite dark, with choppy vocals accompanied by textured audio layers before it drops away for some fresh, atmospheric production as the base for some ethereal, emotive vocals. The track will be featured on his upcoming EP, Viet Rose, which was named after LANKS’ favourite laksa in Melbourne, which is suitably named because we can just imagine that his tracks are going to be spicy. The six-track EP will also see him collaborate with artists such as Tom Iansek from Big Scary and Airling, as well as his bandmates, Jessica Bonnitcha and Justin Olsson.
