One of the most highly anticipated albums of 2018 – Little Dark Age – was blessed to MGMT fans on the 9th day of February. As well as the album coming out early in the year, it has already gained early critical acclaim – The Guardian, describing the record as “a deliciously odd return to form”, and NME praising the release with, “MGMT have thrown open the doors and welcomed you back into their world”.
Formed in 2002, The American rock band released their influential, Grammy-nominated, debut album Oracular Spectacular in 2007. This was followed by 2010’s Congratulations and 2013’s self-titled album MGMT. Now, almost 5 years later, MGMT brings us the new album filled with “uneasy pop anthems”. Some include ‘Little Dark Age’ (lead single), ‘When You Die’ and ‘Hand It Over’. Little Dark Age was produced by MGMT, Patrick Wimberly (Chairlift, Kelela, Blood Orange), and long-time collaborator Dave Fridmann (Flaming Lips, Spoon, Tame Impala).
Prior to the album release, MGMT shared an official music video for ‘Me and Michael’, which is number 4 on the albums tracklist.
Tour wise, MGMT fans in the US and Europe are in for a treat as they are stopping at major venues across the two countries from March 2nd to mid July. Check out the dates, and buy tickets from their official website
