Following on the heels of a very successful 2016 for Milwaukee Banks, including the release of their Deep into the night album, earning them nominations for best Hip Hop album in both the Victorian Music Awards and the Australian Independent AIR awards, Their latest single release ‘The City’ continues the bands successful debut.
The cerebral beats and smooth vocals from their acclaimed debut albums returns in an ear-worm track that sticks with you long after your first listens and demands further plays.
The unique sound of Milwaukee Banks lends perfectly to a chilled, mildly gloomy day feeling reflexive, or the most frantic of summer partying, it is not often you come across a group with songs that can be accessed on a number of levels in this day and age, however with the release of ‘The City’ I can safely say that Milwaukee Banks have continued with the quality found in their debut album.
But then perhaps I’m biased, having loved their first album. There is a sound there reminiscent of (another favourite) Kid Cudi’s Passion, Pain & Dragon Slayin’ from 2016.
