Iceland is pretty well known for its artic cold temperatures all year round, but with Júniús Meyvant’s latest sunny release, I wouldn’t be surprised if the sun made a cheeky appearance behind those icy mountains rather soon.
Born and raised in the beautiful coastal capital of Iceland, Reykjavík, Júniús Meyvant is a newcomer that has captured sighs of awe not only from his hometown but all the way from the cobblestone cities of Europe. With a crispy soul soaked voice like his, it is pretty obvious that we don’t need to question why.
After making big waves in Scandinavia and selling out halls and venues all across Europe, Meyvant has treated us with a shiny new gem. Paired with a live Spotify performance, Neon Experience is a shoulder-shaking groove that presents Meyvant’s music abilities to the highest order. It’s a timeless track with blends of soulful punches and bittersweet folk edges that will be sure to time warp you into the grains of a black and white film. Layered with authentic weaves of lush strings and delicious melodic vocals so distantly akin to that of Ben Howard, Meyvant will be sure to uncoil your muscles and turn your insides into gooey velvet ripples. Despite being six minutes long, it is a magical track that can be repeatedly replayed, leaving you with an infectious grin and red rosy cheeks for the remainder of your day.
Press play, close your eyes and imagine yourself skipping through a daisy filled meadow on a perfect summers day. You’ll be sure to thank me friends…
Purchase Neon Experience on iTunes now and keep your calendar clear on the 8th of July to snag a copy of his debut LP, Floating Harmonies. Be sure to catch Meyvant at London’s Bushstock Festival with Dan Croll on the 18th June and have a peek at his September UK and European Tour below!
