Parcels Drop New Single Ahead of Debut Album

Australian alt-funk quintet Parcels have finally detailed the release of their highly-anticipated debut album. Scheduled to drop on 12 October, Parcels’ self-titled record will be the summation of the band’s time spent writing and producing in Berlin.

The announcement was accompanied by the release of ‘Lightenup’, Parcels’ third single this year, which, according to the band, is the ‘most representative of us’, specifying that “it was important song to us because the lyrics come from the voice of the band. Usually the lyrics are personal. But these ones are really coming from the band.” The breezy, funk infused single joins previous tracks ‘Tieduprightnow’ and ‘Bemyself’ as previews of what to expect in October.

Parcels have a come a long way from their humble Byron Bay beginnings, having relocated to Berlin three years ago to pursue their creative ambitions. It didn’t take long for the band to sign with progressive label Kitsuné, prompting the release of several singles and 2017’s ‘Hideout’ EP. Nevertheless, Parcels arguably took the music world by storm upon releasing the Daft Punk-produced ‘Overnight’ last year after the French electronic maestros offered to work with them.

Although their debut album will be released while residing in Berlin, Parcels will return to Australia to tour the record this January, an undoubtedly anticipated tour that will offer a glimpse of this group’s live mastery that even left Daft Punk in awe.
