Not many artists can attribute a critically acclaimed debut EP, over 100 million Spotify streams and being chosen as Apple’s Up Next Artist to nine months of releasing music. Alas, that is exactly what Sigrid has achieved; the 21 year-old Norwegian pop singer who channels the other worldly aura of Bjork into heartfelt ballads that pack a punch.
Sigrid has continued this momentum by releasing “Strangers”, a single that exhibits the sheer natural talent that has found her so much success in such a short amount of time. This week additionally saw the young artist grace the soundtrack to the epic blockbuster Justice League, with a powerful cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Everybody Knows”. As expected with a breakout artist of her calibre, Sigrid has wasted no time in spreading her wings across the summer festival circuit, with noteworthy appearances at Glastonbury, Latitude, Wilderness, Lollapalooza, Pitchfork Paris and Roskilde Festival, where the organisers had to upgrade the stage size due to over five thousand fans attending her set.
It’s safe to say that Sigrid should be on the radar of every music fan at the moment. With a buzz that only comes from immense talent and dedication to her craft, Sigrid will be a household name in no time.
