Swedish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, David Alexander, recently released his latest single, The Forbidden, for his solo project, Summer Heart. The track comes off Summer Heart’s soon-to-be released EP and was also announced as a featured performer at Austin festival, SXSW from March 15th to the 20th alongside his show at Brooklyn’s Knitting Factory on March 23rd.
The Forbidden, is a delicate, dreamy-pop track that instantly reminds me of Polaroid cameras and summer road trips to the beach. The nostalgic slow burner, immediately gives you shivers with the opening, sun drenched synths. Alexander’s airy, ethereal vocals washes over you, sitting nicely on a bed of cruisy guitars and mellow, bass lines. The track picks up with the chorus as the shimmery synths get gradually more intense, whilst the airy, earnest vocals are brought into the forefront of the track, combined with layered melodies and rhythms.
Honestly, this gentle piece of hazy, dream pop is the perfect combination of mellow, summery, feel-good vibes and psychedelic synths. The Forbidden is a little tease of what is yet to come for Summer Heart’s upcoming EP.
