Recently Reading four-piece, Sundara Karma premiered their first single, A Young Understanding, off their upcoming debut album which is set to be released this year. The track was premiered on the Annie Mac Show on the UK’s Radio One. Over the past year, Sundara Karma have proven to be a band to keep an eye out for, as they have steadily built a teenage cult following and won over festival crowds with their exhilarating live shows. The band, led my Oscar Lulu, have firmly built a reputation of delivering commanding, indie-rock, dealing with subject matter, typical of a pop-punk genre, of young love and discontent in one’s own hometown.

A Young Understanding is another cinematic indie-rock track that shows the development of the band’s sound and tighter production. The track opens with soaring, cruisy guitars and the smashing of percussion, waiting for the roaring of Oscar’s vocals to enter. The track is delivered with urgency as the track discusses growing up and getting through difficult times. Oscar spoke about the track, saying, ‘The song focuses on the terrifying, darker side of growing up, but at the same time it plays that fear down by generalising all these feelings and thoughts as just being “A Young Understanding”. With its uplifting vocals and driving instrumental, the track is a perfect, cinematic rebellious track, demanding you to just let go.
Sundara Karma are set to be touring with mega grunge babes, Wolf Alice across Europe this month and will also be sharing the stage with punk lords, Bring Me The Horizon at Song BRITS Week gig. The band will also be hitting the road for their biggest headline tour to date before joining Nothing But Thieves for their April tour.
