Youth Club “happened” in Essex circa 2013, created by Danny Blanco, Joe Fran, Gerarrd Duffield and Rees Broomfield. You might have remembered them from their self-released debut EP back in 2014, Colours, that managed to break in to the official independent singles charts and reached #25 and hit #7 in the iTunes alternative charts. An achievement that made them as the first unsigned Essex band to officially enter the chart, right next to Adele. Not bad, right?
They then released their second EP, Brothers, under LAB Records, in 2015. Stealing people’s attention, they managed to hit the stages of Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Y Not Festival, and Shazam Summer Party, to name a few. And now the foursome is back with their latest single, Sorry.
The single is still going to give you that thick Youth Club sound; light and summer-y tunes but with full-bodied melodies and Gerarrad’s playful voice. So, they shouldn’t be sorry because this song is both catchy and addictive.
At the moment, the boys are on tour with Young Kato across the UK. So, if you can’t get enough of them, RSVP yourself for The Borderline on December 14th because they’ll be headlining the show. Not free on said date? Don’t worry, the rest of 2016 is going to be filled with a lot of gigs for Youth Club. Details are on their website.
