Review: Will Joseph Cook – Sweet Dreamer Video

Will Joseph Cook has recently released a video for his new single called Sweet Dreamer. Several costume changes, multiple characters played by Will and a central character searching for something also portrayed by the singer. Sounds familiar? We thought so. Will’s most popular song/ video to date, Girls Like Me, is stylistically very similar to his newest music video.

In his recent video, Will is not speed dating multiple female versions of himself, but he is watching TV. Starting with the news, he flicks through various different channels – a talk show, kids, sci-fi, music channels, you name it. Let’s not forget that the UK singer plays almost all the characters.

So what’s the music video really about?

”The Sweet Dreamer video is about losing a grasp on reality, with me ultimately being swallowed into a dystopian world of TV clichés. The song however, is about losing touch with my optimism, but I thought the latter would make a better music video,” he said in his interview with Independent.

Will always tries to give his songs a duality and make his fans see it in a different light.

”I want people to hear the song, work it out, and then be right back at square one after seeing the video. With both ‘Girls Like Me’ and ‘Sweet Dreamer’ using the title instead of the lyrics allowed for me to take the video concept to a totally different place,” he told Roisin O’Connor.
