You may not have heard of UK-based singer-songwriter George Ogilvie, but that is soon to change. Hailing from the historical cathedral city of Canterbury, Kent, the 22 year old has been steadily gaining fans since starting his Youtube channel four years ago. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Bon Iver, Sharon Van Etten, and John Martyn, his introspective, soulful music has struck a chord with thousands of followers online.
With two EPs to his name, his profile is only set to grow with the release of ‘October’ on iTunes and Spotify later this week. The melancholy track is a striking introduction for new listeners as well as another welcome display of his songwriting skills for old fans. He explains that the track was “inspired by a close friendship, downfalls taking their toll on something good and looking back to a time when it was much simpler”.
Ahead of its official release on November 4, you can listen to ‘October’ on Soundcloud now, and also watch an acoustic performance on Youtube.
